Join Tim Kozusko, a native of Cocoa Beach and Environmental Engineer at the Kennedy Space Center with a passion for the history, ecology and conservation of the islands, on a special guided tour! Saturday, February 13 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. To carpool, meet at 12:30 p.m. : Howard E Futch Memorial Park at Paradise Beach, 2301 N. Highway A1A in Indialantic. Or at 1 p.m.: Ramp Road Park, launch in Cocoa Beach Please wear water shoes and sunscreen and bring your water bottle, a snack and insect repellant. Binoculars and cameras are optional. Cost of kayak rental is $38 per person - Tandem touring kayaks available for a party of 2 or singles for individuals. Children under 12 must paddle tandem with an adult. Enrollment is limited to 20 people/10 kayaks. Make your reservation by: Thursday, February 11. Call 321.723.3556. No refunds after this date, unless minimum of 6 enrollment is not met. The sanctuary is a joint acquisition of the Brevard County Environmentally Endangered Lands Program and the State of Florida, acquired in 1995 with an addition in 2008. Vegetation is pine flatwoods, oak scrub, and freshwater depression marshes. Prescribed burning, mechanical treatment of fuels, and thinning of pines have been done to restore habitat conditions. There has been a positive response of the Florida Scrub-Jay population to habitat restoration. Several rare plants occur int he sanctuary. Saturday, February 20 from 9 a.m. till noon DIRECTIONS: Central Rockledge, just west of US Highway 1, 360 Barnes Boulevard From I-95: Take Fiske Blvd., exit 195. At the intersection just north of I-95, go east on Barnes Boulevard 2.4 miles to the Sanctuary entrance and small parking area. From US-1: Turn west onto Barnes Boulevard and travel 0.5 miles. The sanctuary entrance is on the north side of the road. Please wear closed toe shoes and sunscreen and bring your water bottle, a snack and insect repellant. Binoculars and cameras are optional. |

Pocket change for drinks and snacks, binoculars and cameras are optional. Cost is $20 per person Enrollment is limited to 24 people. Make your reservation by: Thursday, February 25.
